Privacy policy
Last updated: 10 April 2026 · Anakatech
Anakatech (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose personal information in connection with the M2C2 product family, the website at anakatech.com, and related support and sales channels. We aim to meet the standards of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. Who this applies to
This policy applies to visitors to our website, people who contact us, customers who purchase software or hardware from us, and end users who use M2C2 software. If you use M2C2 on a device at home, much of your household data never leaves that device — see below.
2. What M2C2 software collects on your device
M2C2 is designed to run primarily on your hardware (for example, a Raspberry Pi in your home). Your calendars, photos, voice interactions, face-profile data used for on-device recognition, smart-home state, and similar information are processed locally unless you explicitly enable a feature that sends data elsewhere (for example, a third-party integration you configure).
We do not receive a continuous feed of that household data simply because you run M2C2. We cannot “log in” to your mirror. If you choose to use cloud-based third-party services (e.g. a weather API, a calendar provider), those services are governed by their own policies.
3. License validation
To confirm that a copy of M2C2 is licensed, the software may perform a validation check with our servers. Typically this involves a minimal technical identifier for the device (for example, a hashed or generated device ID) and your license key. We use this to prevent abuse (e.g. the same key on more devices than your tier allows) and to support license recovery.
We do not use license checks to harvest your mirror content or personal files.
4. What we collect through this website and email
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact form: name, email address, subject category, and message content.
- Purchase flow: billing contact details, order metadata, and transaction references processed by our payment provider (see below). We do not store your full card number on our servers.
- Support email: whatever you choose to include in your correspondence.
- Basic technical data: standard server and analytics information such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed — see Analytics.
5. Payments (Stripe)
Card payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes payment card data according to its own privacy policy and PCI-DSS obligations. We receive limited information from Stripe (for example, confirmation of payment, last four digits if shown in the dashboard, and customer email for receipts when provided). We do not see your complete card number or CVC.
6. Website analytics
We may use privacy-conscious or first-party analytics to understand aggregate traffic (e.g. popular pages, approximate region). If we use a third-party analytics tool, we will prefer configurations that minimise personal data (e.g. IP anonymisation where available). If we run no analytics tool at all, this section still applies to server logs our host may generate.
7. Email delivery (Resend or similar)
Transactional email (order confirmations, license keys, responses to contact forms) may be sent via a transactional email provider. That provider processes recipient addresses and message content to deliver mail and may retain logs for reliability and abuse prevention as described in their policy.
8. Why we use personal information
We use personal information to:
- Provide software licenses, hardware fulfilment, and customer support;
- Process payments and prevent fraud;
- Improve our website and products;
- Comply with legal obligations; and
- Send essential service messages (e.g. receipts). We do not sell your personal information.
9. Disclosure to third parties
We may disclose information to:
- Payment processors (Stripe);
- Email delivery providers;
- Hosting and infrastructure providers; and
- Authorities when required by law or to protect safety and rights.
Some of these providers may store data in jurisdictions outside Australia (e.g. the United States). Where required, we take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances to ensure overseas recipients handle information in line with the APPs, or we rely on applicable exceptions under the Privacy Act.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information we hold — including HTTPS, access controls, and reputable vendors. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure.
11. Retention and deletion
We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, accounting, and dispute resolution requirements. Order and license records may be kept for several years. Contact form and support threads are retained for a period appropriate to respond to follow-ups and improve service, then deleted or de-identified where reasonable.
You may request deletion of personal information we hold where it is reasonable and lawful for us to do so. Some records (e.g. tax invoices) must be retained by law.
12. Access and correction
Under the Privacy Act, you may request access to personal information we hold about you and ask for corrections. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time.
13. Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) — see oaic.gov.au.
14. Children
M2C2 may be used in family homes. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for marketing. Parents and guardians control device setup. If you believe a child has sent us personal information inappropriately, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
15. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change; for material changes we may provide additional notice (e.g. on the website or by email).
